Well, it is amazing what you can achieve when you all pull together! For the last fortnight the GPP office has been taking part in a Zero waste challenge – reducing, reusing and recycling as much waste as possible. Everyone in the office has really played their part and in 2 weeks we produced less than 200 grams! A great effort and everyone has started thinking more about the waste they produce. It’s not all about environmental benefits however; we have now decided to have monthly office lunches (zero waste of course) where everyone brings some food in to share with each other. A colleague in a neighbouring office has offered to bring in home grown (if thats the right word) chickens eggs for us – healthy, local and very few food miles!
In many ways, this is what our Environment Capital aspirations are all about. Using ideas and projects that some dismiss as simply a green issue, greenwash or too radical and demonstrating that actually its just a jolly good idea, makes sense and leads to improvements in a whole range of areas.

There is more information about the zero waste challenge with a pic of the teeny weeny amounts of rubbish created here: http://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/business/Organisations-zero-in-on-waste.4984226.jp
ReplyDeleteGlad the zero waste went well, and glad to see it's led to long term continuation.
