Sunny-Side Up or Over Easy?

Peterborough Back to Business Club have their own blog, which is updated every week by Job Centre Advisor and Back to Business Facilitation Alan Boyer. Below is a snippet of what Alan wrote this week:

Speaker-wise, last week we had a substitution when the star striker was the subject of a last minute transfer deal and had to leave her club so we had to draft in a replacement. The sub played an absolute blinder and everyone went home well happy and over the moon with the result of a great afternoon's entertainment, complete with crowd participation (no Mexican Wave, though).

This week were able to play with the advertised team, but attendance was down on what it had been for previous matches. Unfortunately, those not there missed out on a cracking performance that would have inspired and excited a crowd that is looking for inspiration at this stage of their journey.

Let's hope they are not as unwell as the proverbial Psittacus Erithacus for missing out on a chance to enhance their promotion prospects at this stage of the season.Has anyone else noticed the World Cup (Come on England) is about to start? It was a little disappointing that more people did not turn up for Paul Raper's seminar on "Helping You Back to Work" as it would have been very useful to anyone currently in jobseeking mode, but I presume the combination of the good weather and school break was a contributing factor. When our summer usually consists of around 28.5 hours in total, spread over about 4 days I suppose you need to take full advantage of it whilst it is there. Paul works for Renovo, one of the Jobcentre support providers, who give help with a combination of Internet and telephone services, and unfortunately he has to travel from York to see us, so a bigger audience would have made it a little more worthwhile for him.It was quite amazing how much information and advice he managed to pack into about an hour and a quarter, from spelling out exactly what his company offers, to explanations of the different ways to write the same CV, through to using Linkedin to it's full potential. Apart from Ray Clear, there was no-one in the room that had been around when Paul visited us back in January, so everything he had to say was fresh information to nearly everyone, and in fact before he left, Ray signed up to use Renovo's services, so even he was impressed with what there was on offer.
