A Healthy Environment

Over the past few weeks the links between our natural environment and health have become very strong. Through the cross cutting nature of the city’s Sustainable Community Strategy we have begun to develop some ideas and projects that contribute to both our health and well-being and strong environmental credentials.

Sometimes it can simply be about linking people to the green lungs of the city, giving better access to green spaces through accessible and sustainable transport, getting a bit of fresh air! It could also be about demonstrating the links between our natural environment and mental well-being, a bit of relaxation on the local allotment or perhaps a stress busting walk around Ferry Meadows. Healthy eating is also high on the city agenda, finding ways we can improve access to fresh and local fruit and vegetables, and show how easy they are to cook and how delicious they can be to eat!

Keep an eye out for this year’s Green Festival which is themed on Grow it, Cook it and Eat it.
