Peterborough City Council's Travelchoice team has launched a new website making it easier for people to access travel information in Peterborough.
The new website - www.travelchoice.org.uk - is easy to use and includes information about bus timetables and journey planning. There are sections specifically for businesses working on travel plans, for parents about alternatives for the school run and information specifically for a journey purpose such as shopping, leisure, accessing healthcare or commuting.
The site includes a ‘virtual’ bus stop which has been designed to help people easily find the information they need. There is also a new Flickr image upload facility, events calendar and free downloads section.
The site will be regularly updated and will eventually include additions such as You Tube video links.
Councillor Matthew Lee, deputy leader and cabinet member for environment capital and culture, said: "Our Travelchoice team offers a wealth of information for anyone wanting to access more sustainable forms of transport to the car, such as walking and cycling, to create a healthier, safer and more vibrant city.
"Whether you're looking for someone to carshare with for your journey to work, planning a journey on foot or by bike, or looking to access health services using public transport, information about all these and more is available on the new website.
"Encouraging people to use their cars less is a key objective for us and adds to Peterborough’s growing reputation as the UK's environment capital."
Residents are being asked to give their views about the new website by completing a feedback form on the homepage. Everyone who completes the survey will be entered into a prize draw to win a week’s free bus travel.
