Conference to share good practice in Building Community Leadership

The Muslim Community Reference Group have organised a conference on sharing experience about “Building Community Leadership for Tomorrow”. This will be held on Saturday (17th July 2010) from 10.30am – 1.30 pm. The conference is free to attend and will be held at Gladstone Park Community Centre, Bourges Boulevard in Peterborough.

The Muslim Community Reference Group which is a newly formed group aims to provide a united platform for the Muslim voice in Peterborough and foster better community relations for the good of a bigger and better Peterborough. One of its theme groups is “Capacity Building” focusing on projects that build capacity in the community and aims to empower the local community to fully contribute and be an integral part of the wider society.

The conference is designed to bring together key note speakers from the Federation of Muslim Organisations (FMO) from Leicestershire, along with local Peterborough schools, to share their experience of building community leadership.

Local Secondary schools will also have the opportunity to share how they contribute to building leadership.

Local partners and service providers will hold stalls to promote the current projects being delivered which will benefit young people and also promote community empowerment.

Guests have been invited from the Council Cabinet as well as leaders from other faith and community groups.

The conference will include plenty of opportunity for questions and answers with discussion around the topic.
